The Life Safety and Fire Prevention Division (LSFPD) is primarily responsible for enforcing all aspects of the International Fire Code (IFC), which was adopted by the LFPD board of Directors on November 13, 2003. The IFC addresses new and existing construction and incorporates the 2003 editions of NFPA 101 Life Safety Code and NFPA 1 Fire Prevention Code. In addition to the IFC the LSFPD enforces specifications for the installation of fire protection systems, including fire alarms, sprinklers, standpipes, fire hydrants and fire lanes. This document also outlines the departments fire protection program plan, which guides implementation of the communities fire defense program.
