Louisville Expands Rescue Capabilities

Louisville Fire District Participates in Newly Formed Boulder County Technical Rescue Team

Lieutenant Gillis and FireMedic Medina participated in the 11-day, 120-hour hands-on technical rescue course hosted by the West Metro Fire Department in May of 2021. The course is designed to meet the NFPA 1006-Standard for Technical Rescuer Professional Qualifications 2021 Edition. 

Gillis and Medina received foundational knowledge and hands-on experience in Rope Rescue, Confined Space Entry and Rescue, Structural Collapse Shoring and Rescue, and Trench Rescue. Both members are now qualified in Rescue Technician Operations Level for Rope and Structural Collapse and Technician Level for Confined Space and Trench Rescue.

The Boulder County Technical Rescue Team is a collaboration of team members from Lousiville, Boulder Fire Rescue, Boulder Rural Fire Protection District., Lafayette Fire Department, Longmont Fire Department, and Mountain View Fire Protection District.
